Baes with Kicks: Interview with Annie Purdy
Born and raised in London, Annie Purdy was never drawn to Bratz or Barbies. Instead, her creativity found its outlet in crafting shoes, playful Play-Doh designs, and handmade accessories. Though she famously refused to wear shoes until the age of five, the Royal College of Art graduate has since developed a footwear practice defined by innovation, sustainability, and a distinct sense of humour.
In Hypebae’s Baes with Kicks* series, Annie discusses her commitment to upcycling, working with post-consumer hiking waste, and the inspiration behind her MA collection, Hot Girls Hike, a body of work that celebrates women in the outdoors and reimagines the boundaries of performance footwear.
